I have done only a few plays with The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC, but I have a strong sense of it being my artistic home. Michael Kahn, the theatre’s Artistic Director is one of the finest classical directors in the world, and I learn and grow whenever I work with him.



Washington is a thrilling city. The theatre is just blocks from the White House, and the audience is often filled with congressmen, senators, Supreme Court Justices and prominent journalists. In this context, Shakespeare’s plays take on an immediate relevance. The audience is also extremely intelligent and well read, which requires the actors to play at the top of their game. The Wall Street Journal called the STC the finest classical company in the country. I agree. I very much look forward to my next collaboration with Michael Kahn.
