Fundamentals of Acting

Patrick Page Acting Studio

"I’ve had the privilege of training all over the world in incredibly rigorous intensives.  Nowhere else have I had a training experience as simultaneously profound and practical as at Patrick Page Studio.  The studio is built not only to hold people to the highest standard of their craft and ability, but is also built to be a home. I recently did a run of 501 performances in To Kill a Mockingbird. I could not have repeated it with the level of play, joy, and depth I did without the lessons I learned here."

About this Course

Fundamentals of Acting is an in-person eight-week course that is offered a few times a year in Manhattan. Patrick personally teaches his own proprietary technique, honed over three decades, assisted by Michael Littig and Paige Davis.

The first four weeks focus on the basic technique and culminate in the presentation of contemporary scenes.

The final four weeks emphasize characterization and textual analysis, and culminate in the presentation of scenes by mid-century American playwrights.

Why join the Fundamentals of Acting?

Fundamentals of Acting was designed to help give talented actors a solid technique they can rely upon at all times and under any conditions.  And do so in a nurturing environment. What makes our studio unique is that students can often witness the technique in action by witnessing Patrick's work onstage, film, or tv.

What if I have problems with time?

Students must commit fully to each 8-week session. Absences make teaching very difficult, as we assume knowledge of past sessions when teaching new material.

What if I have problems with money?

Each class requires a non-refundable deposit in order to hold your spot in class.  Beyond that, we offer flexible payment plans based on the needs of each artist.

What can I expect?

The Patrick Page Studio is committed to giving talented actors a solid technique they can rely upon at all times and under any conditions. Through exercises and scene study, students will increase their ability to be present, playful, surprising, imaginative, and, most importantly, responsive to their partners.
